An educational program that leads to a smarter, more efficient energy consumer.
The Current Conservation Library Program changes behavior through education by educating consumers in their own homes. The program works because it is simple and relevant to consumers’ lives.
Program materials are available in Spanish and English. Click here to learn more about the Watts Up? Meter.
Participating libraries receive Current Conservation educational materials, Watts Up? Meters in durable checkout cases and promotional materials. Promotional materials to inform visitors about the program are provided to library staff.
Library patrons can checkout a Watts Up? Meter to use at home, just like checking out a book. Program participants take the Watts Up? Meter home to measure the energy use of their appliances and electronics, while they are on and off. Watts Up? Meter measurements and the use of Current Conservation educational materials inform participants about their energy use and areas for energy efficiency improvement around their home.
After using the Watts Up? Meter and engaging with the educational materials provided the meter is returned to the library just like a book.
The Current Conservation Library Program starts Conservation Conversations® at home and allows participants to take a hands on approach to learning about energy efficiency. This program helps people take the valuable and meaningful first step to understanding the efficiency of their home and how they use energy.
The Watts Up? Meter is easy to use and generates personal and relevant energy information for participants. This program is specifically designed to facilitate a partnership between communities, schools, libraries and program sponsors.
